How This Kashmiri Home Maker Started a Popular Pickle Business

Tell us about yourself

My name is Sabira Matto from Srinagar. I am 35 years old. I have done my  MCA from Kashmir University.  I am a homemaker. I have 2  kids, girl 7 years old and boy 4 years old.

I have started my own pickle brand by the name of ‘Panun Aachar’ which is purely home-made. I make different varieties of pickles and one among them is ‘Aloo Bukhara’ pickle which is mostly liked by every one.

The idea for it came to me when I had randomly uploaded a picture of my  pickle in Yakjut group (Read about Yakjut). Many ladies liked it and wanted to order it. I did not want to disappoint  them, so I promised to deliver 6 orders. I made them and called up a local courier agency FastBeetle to deliver it for me.

After that day, orders started coming every day. People even started inquiring about my pickle in local stores. I received a call from  Pick n Choose superstore inquiring about my pickle.  Many distributors called me that wanted to distribute my product.  There have been days when almost 30+ orders came.

Now I have employed 10 girls, who come to my place and do the preparations with me.

Did your family support you?

Yes, my inspiration for my business is my mother in law. She only taught how me how to make pickles. My husband also supports me in this venture.

How can people order?

People can contact by team on this number 8825030025 to order
