Fig plant is an important ethnobotanical plant widely spread on home gardens of the valley. Figs are naturally dried under sunlight in Kashmir.

Moreover, they are rich in potassium which regulates blood pressure. Dried Kashmiri figs contain omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids which prevent heart diseases and are known to heal sore throats due to their high mucilage content.
