How Gyawun Began
www.gyawun.com was first registered on November 27, 2015 — but our journey didn’t begin as a store. In fact, “Gyawun” means songs in Kashmiri, and that’s exactly what we started with.
Gyawun began as a platform to showcase and promote local Kashmiri music and artists. We highlighted singers, shared original tracks, and gave space to voices that often go unheard. But soon, our vision grew.
We started telling positive stories from Kashmir — real ones. Through articles, interviews, and social media, we created a space that focused not on politics or conflict, but on culture, people, art, and everyday life in the valley.
Then came the next chapter — eCommerce.
On September 19, 2017, we received our very first order — for a T-shirt that simply said, “I Love Kashmir.” That moment marked the beginning of a new path.
Since then, Gyawun has grown into a full-fledged platform, connecting lakhs of customers around the world with the richness of Kashmiri craftsmanship.
