This beautiful set of three books — Shikara, Samavar, and Chinar Trees — by Miss Grace Paljor is a gentle invitation into the heart of Kashmir, designed for young readers, it blends rhymes, folktales, everyday stories, and fun facts about the region’s rich flora and fauna. Whether it’s learning about the majestic chinar or the warmth of a samavar, each page brings a little piece of Kashmiri culture to life. It’s thoughtful, warm, and perfect for parents, educators, or anyone wanting to introduce children to the soul of the Valley.
I finished reading Sheene-Peepin Series of Rhymes and Stories books a day back. This is a brilliant work done by Miss Grace Palijor to highlight Kashmiri food, tradition, culture and Folktale. In addition to this I loved the additional information given related to wild animals, birds, flora and fauna of kashmir and the kashmiri translated name of the species is an important aspect. Paper quality, Illustration work and Photos are all brilliant. I suggest these books to all the School kids in Kashmir because these books are very important in regard to get to know about your own Kashmir.
While I was looking for books for my kids about Kashmir, I am glad I discovered these books. Well illustrated, well bound with good quality material, these books are the best in the market. They are loaded with Kashmir’s food, culture, people, flora and fauna, and some short folktales too. Scrumptious dishes and their recipes are add ons with many other beautifully presented facts about Kashmir. My children and I love reading these together. Thank you Gyawun.
Great.
