40 kilometres away from Srinagar, this small open valley is situated in the hills of Pir Panjal Range. It is surrounded all around by meadows, rolling hills and pine trees. It’s the best alternative for soul refreshers to enjoy wilderness than gardens. With beautiful green meadows spread so wide with a backdrop of splendid snow-capped mountains refreshes your soul and soothes your eyes. It has some high peaks of Tatakuti and Sunset peak surrounded by it which makes this place a rich trek for mountain climbers. A major trek from Yusmarg leads to a famous stop called Tosa Maidan, also called the “king of meadows” which remains laden with snow from November till April. A view of lush green grass spread around 3 miles in Tosa Maidan is a view to relish forever. A short 4km trek to Nilnag, a small lake, bounded by pine trees, near a hamlet gives an ultimate rapture to visitors. A full day trek from Yusmarg to a frozen lake in Sang e safed valley 10 km from Yusmarg is quite enchanting. Most of the portion of the lake is covered under ice throughout the year. After we come back from Yusmarg, there is a pristine shrine “Chrar’e’Sharief”, in the name of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-Ud-din Wali, which stands tall in the valley of Kashmir. It’s a 600-year-old shrine and has ardent followers. Due to this shrine, this place has a different aesthetic essence linked to it.
